Orignally, the real estate company was running their operation on a small DOS based database, and manually updating their website and documents.

Stage 1 - admin system
iseek took the data from the old DOS based database and built a new administration program using linuxi, apachei, mysqli and phpi. This has been the main administration program they use internally since 1/10/2002.

Stage 2 - website integration
iseek developed additional functionality in the administration program which allows the staff to select the pictures for each property listing. The images are then scaled, and uploaded to the live web server using perl.

Stage 3 - new premises
When the real estate company decided to relocate, we took the opportunity to replace all the ageing PC's with a thin-client, linux based terminal server program (LTSPi). This reduced the initial hardware investment by almost 33%, as well as reducing the on-going management needs siginificantly. Utilising the open source office suite - open office - also saved hundreds of dollars per workstation/client.

Microsofti Windows XPi and Microsoft Office are still used on PC's that require features only XP &i; Office provide. The number of these reduces daily.

Stage 4 - color brochures
Once settled into the new premises, iseek implemented additional functionality for the admin program to produce pre-designed brochures using the pictures on the website (at their original high resolution) via adobe acrobat PDF files and printed on a A3 Color Laser printer.
